KIDS WHOSE PARENTS ARE DIVORCED HAVE A RIGHT TO
Be treated with respect.
Love and be loved by both of their parents.
Have their parents listen to their feelings.
Know that their parents' divorce is not their fault.
Ask their parents questions about the divorce & any changes in their family and get honest answers.
Tell their parents that they don't like it when they argue with their other parents and that they don't want them to say negative things about
their other parent.
Keep some of their favorite things at both their parent's houses, including pictures of the other parent.
Stay a kid and have fun and not have to be the Mom or Dad of the house.
Inform their parents that they don't want to be put in the middle or report back information about the other parent.
Learn the "3 C's":
You didn't cause the divorce
You can't change your parents' mind about divorce & remarriage
You can control your own actions & feelings but not your parents'.
